  • Demonstrated passion for the trades as evidenced by relevant courses completed or employment during high school

  • Full-time attendance at an accredited trade school or technical college with plans to pursue a career in a Vo-Tech/trade field, including: automotive mechanic/technician, medical technician, electrical/electronics technician, HVAC technician, robotics technician, masonry, welding, or woodworking

  • Have US Citizenship or legal permanent resident status

Foundation for Rural Service Scholarship (HardyNet)

  • Be a graduating high school Senior

  • Be a United States citizen

  • Be sponsored by a current NTCA (Hardy Telecommunications is a member)

  • Be accepted by an accredited two- or four-year college, university or vocational-technical school

  • Have at least a C grade point average (2.0+ GPA)

  • Express an interest to return to a rural community following graduation

Boxwell Churchill Scholarship

  • Graduating Senior of a high school in Berkeley, Grant, Hampshire, Hardy, Jefferson, Mineral, and Morgan Counties

  • Have a minimum GPA of 3.0

  • Field of study must be in the following majors: Accounting, Business Administration, Civil Engineering, Computer Science, Economics, Education, Political Science, Psychology or Social Science

  • Demonstrate a financial need and good citizenship

  • Attend college on a full-time basis.

Vernon & Myrtle Webster Scholarship

  • Must be a college bound Senior

  • Must have a GPA of 3.0+ during all four years of high school

  • Must be of good moral character

  • Must be well-regarded by the faculty and the community

  • Must be involved in community and school activities

McCoy's Grand Theatre Scholarship

  • Applicants must also write an essay answering the following four questions: ∙ How has theatrical arts helped you grow as a person? ∙ What are your goals for continuing theatrical arts involvement? ∙ How will you use this scholarship to help you achieve these goals? ∙ Why are you pursuing a career in Theatrical Arts?

  • Essays should be typed, double-spaced and not exceed two pages.

  • Finalists may be called for an interview.

Hardy County Education Association Scholarship

  • The recipient(s) of this award shall be a graduating senior of an accredited high school.

  • The scholarship(s) will only be awarded to a child or children of a current Hardy County Education Association (HCEA) member, who is enrolled as of the beginning of the school year in which the scholarship is awarded.

  • This award may be used at any college, trade or technical school. This award shall be made payable to the student selected. Repayment of these funds is required if the student withdraws from school during the first semester.

  • Applications for the scholarship are available from the high school guidance counselors.

  • Applications are due to the counselor by April 1 and to the HCEA President by April 15.

  • Applicants must have a GPA of at least 3.0. This must be verified by the school guidance counselor at the time of application.

  • Applicants must write a brief statement including what school they are attending, what they plan to study, and why they chose this field or trade.

  • The scholarship is for one year and is not renewable.

  • A committee of three HCEA members will review the applications to ensure the requirements have been met. 8. The scholarship is valued at up to $250. The total value of scholarships awarded in any one year shall not exceed $1500.

Moorefield Youth Basketball League Educational Grant

  • Awarded to any basketball Senior or little league alumni recommended by two youth basketball board members

  • Estimated Award: $750.00

  • Grants are made annually to High School Seniors only.

West Virginia Pumpkin Festival Scholarship

  • Must be a graduating Senior in West Virginia

  • Attend either a West Virginia Public college/university or West Virginia technology school

General Foundation of Women's Clubs West Virginia

  • The recipient of a scholarship shall be a man or woman who is a United States Citizen and has resided in West Virginia for at least three years prior to applying.  

  • Scholarships of up to $1,000 will be available. Recipients will be notified no later than June 1. Only one (1) scholarship will be granted to an applicant in a calendar year.

  • Applicants may apply each year they are attending school. A new completed application is required.

  • Scholarships will be granted for attending an accredited college, professional, vocational, or technical program offered by an institution in West Virginia. Students must be full-time students. Scholarships may be granted for attending a school or college outside West Virginia only if the program desired is not offered within the state.

  • Applications shall be sent directly to the District Representative in the District where you live. The name and address of your district representative is shown below. If you need more assistance, please call Chairman Sharon Sheridan, 304-834-9044. Information is also available at www.gfwcwestvirginia.org.

  • The applicant shall submit, with the application, the following requirements for eligibility: a. Two (2) current letters of recommendation, one personal and one academic. Personal/work reference shall be by an adult other than a family member (these need to be signed). b. A recent official transcript of grades c. Copy of an official letter of acceptance or validation from the accredited school to be attended, or validation of attendance for those already in a program.

  • Completed applications with all elements must be postmarked by April 1st. The awarded scholarship will be paid directly to the school to be attended.

  • Scholarship recipients will be selected on the criteria of a. Community Service b. Financial Need c. Leadership/School Activities d. Academic information obtained from transcript

Hawse Health Center Scholarship

  • The E.A. Hawse Health Center scholarships are awarded to students from Hardy/Grant/Hampshire County who are pursuing a career in the medical field. This does not include animal science fields.

  • Applicants must attend an accredited college, university or technical school

  • Recipients of the E.A. Hawse Health Center Scholarship will be required to sign an agreement promising to use the scholarship funds to pursue a medical related career

Pilgrim's Community Pride Scholarship

  • A scholarship in the amount of $500 will be awarded on an annual basis by the Pilgrim’s CCP Team fund to a graduating senior at either Hardy County High School

  • Must provide a letter of application that clearly defines the student relative to the following qualities as set by the Pilgrim’s CCP Team

  • Must be a child of a Moorefield Pilgrim’s employee or grower, with parent’s name and place of work or farm included

  • Must be a college bound senior

  • Must have a grade point average of at least 3.0 for the four years of high school

  • Must be pursuing a degree in any category of an Agriculture or Business major

  • Must be of good moral character

Moorefield Unit #64 American Legion Auxiliary Scholarship

  • A graduating Senior or current college student from any Hardy County high school or WV college

  • Be a child, grandchild, or great-grandchild of a person that has served in the Armed Forces

  • Have a minimum GPA of 3.0

  • Demonstrate high moral and personal character

  • Have school and community involvement

Pendleton Community Bank Scholarship

  • Plan to pursue a career in Business, Accounting or Finance

  • This Scholarship is in the  total amount of one thousand dollars,  to be paid in  full the  first year of post  high school learning.  However, it shall be left to the discretion of PCB, as to how each year’s scholarship  fund will  be  distributed,  should  they  deem a multi‐year  distribution more advisable  than  a  lump‐sum  distribution  in  certain  instances.

Potomac Highlands Scholarship for Traditional Applications

  • Be a graduating Senior; or earning a TASC certificate or earning a high school diploma

  • Have a 2.5 or higher GPA, as of the end of the first semester of his/her Senior year; TASC recipient earn a 550 minimum average on all 5 parts of the test in order to be eligible for the scholarship

  • Be attending Eastern WV Community & Technical College as a full-time student after graduation during the 2022-23 school year. 

  • Enroll in one of the transfer degree programs (AA/AS) not eligible for the WV Invests Grant

Emmanuel Episcopal Church Scholarship

  • Be a high school graduating Senior with a need for the scholarship

  • Be enrolled or accepted into a degree program at an accredited trade school, college, university, or other accredited postsecondary program

  • Demonstrate evidence of academic performance or ability to succeed in the program

  • Demonstrate your religious values in 3-4 sentences

  • Volunteer, extra-curricular activities, sports, and job experience will be considered

  • Write a 150-word essay about the importance of receiving this scholarship and its impact on your future goals

Larkin Ours Scholarship

  • Must be a High School Senior in Grant, Hardy or Pendleton County; or previously graduated and currently employed at GRCC

  • Must submit High School and/or College credit transcripts

  • Must have 3.5 minimum GPA. - Three letters of reference supporting your character, achievement, and potential for education and career advancement. One letter must be from a school official if applying as a high school senior. Other letters may be from employers, ministers, etc. Letters from family members are not accepted

  • Current GRCC employees must be in good standing which includes attendance and computer based educational requirements

  • Recipient is to be of high moral character and exercise their faith through service to others

  • Recipient is to have participated in high school activities, sports, or clubs

  • Recipients that are, or have been, 4H or FFA members would be preferred but not required

  • Recipient is planning to pursue a post-secondary education

  • The Love Memorial Clinic Scholarships are awarded to residents from Grant and Hardy Counties who are pursuing careers in the medical field

Capon Valley Bank Scholarship

  • Children, step-children, grandchildren, and step-grandchildren of employees or directors of Capon Valley Bank, as well as employees of Capon Valley Bank are not eligible for the scholarship

  • The individual must be a student who might not otherwise be able to pursue a higher education without financial assistance

  • The individual must graduate from high school with a minimum GPA of 2.5

  • The individual must pursue a Bachelor's Degree at a certified junior college, college, or university

  • The individual must submit application with all information included in business form

  • Must be a graduating senior of either Moorefield High School or East Hardy High School

  • Must be furthering education at a trade school or pursuing a degree at a two-year or four-year college in wildlife and fisheries or agriculture (other majors welcome to apply in the event that no entries meet this criteria)

  • Must have proof of application to trade school or college

  • Must have minimum of 3.0 grade point average for high school career (verified by guidance counselor or principal)

  • Must write a 250-word essay on how a degree in your field of study will be utilized, complete attached application, and include one letter of recommendation.

Bean Settlement Ruritan Club Scholarship

  • Attend a trade, technical, or college institution offering a 2 or 4 year degree

  • Have maintained a GPA of 2.5 or greater in high school

  • Have demonstrated a commitment to community service

  • Be in good standing at their school (attendance and discipline)

  • Demonstrate financial need

  • Have displayed excellent character while attending high school

  • Have a recommendation from their Principal or Vocational Director

  • Have fulfilled the application requirements completely and neatly
